We launched a new project called Erwin. It’s a new way to file trademarks and copyrights.

My law practice has grown and developed in the last couple years and more of my clients approach me with issues related to trademark or copyright. The biggest area I see people needing help revolves around freebooting and this new wave of online piracy where nefarious individuals are taking advantage of new revenue sharing platforms and creative ways to monetize their social media accounts.

I wrote a previous post about freebooting a few months back and if you haven’t read it yet I would strongly recommend giving it a visit here.

These new forms of infringement are protected against by copyright and trademark law. Whether you’re recovering because your Instagram photos are being used commercially without your permission or someone purchased a domain deceptively similar to yours—there is recourse.

I built Erwin with my brother, Sean. We used a very clean design and conditional logic to automate a lot of issues that rack up an attorney’s bill and created a platform that would allow you to file a trademark or a copyright from your phone or tablet even. We wanted to make sure that you could move through the steps easily while sitting at your favorite coffee shop, your office, or even your favorite craft brewery and land yourself with a trademark or copyright.

The forms get submitted to me directly and I take the time to review what you filled out. Unlike other filing services where an attorney might rubber stamp whatever you entered—we’ll actually take the time to review your application and offer feedback if we think it’s not going to register.

Give Erwin a try.
